Onkō Ikebana

Derived from the Japanese contraction of “on” for sound and “kō” for light (音光—"onkou"), Onkō becomes a medium for poetic creation inspired by the art of Ikebana. It features a hand-drawn and openworked floral design, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.
A piece imbued with magic, delicate and graceful. As the music flows, it reveals a captivating interplay of shadow and light that leaves an unforgettable sensory experience.

Description

Inspired by Japanese tōrō lanterns and their symbolism, Onkō embodies the five fundamental elements of the universe—earth (chi), water (sui), fire (ka), wind (fū), and space (kū). This animated and musical metaphor fully represents the techniques, aesthetics, and values that define Manufacture Reuge’s new identity.
Onkō Ikebana unfurls its music through a delicate floral design, whose motifs require rare artisanal expertise and more than a week of meticulous handcrafting. This arrangement, with its subtle play of light, echoes the aesthetics of Japanese shadow theater.

Our choice of melodies for Onkō Ikebana is ‘Autumn Leaves’ by J. Kosma, ‘What a Wonderful World’ by G.D. Weiss and ‘Summertime’ by G. Gershwin.
